Mobile fan engagement technology company Ballr have selected realtime messaging provider Ably to deliver a new level of fan engagement to sport fans all over the world.
Headquartered in Singapore, Ballr was founded by Sam Jones in 2015. The free gaming platform allows fans to connect, compete and communicate during realtime sporting events.
During a live football match, Ballr captures realtime data related to thousands of micro-moments, such as a pass, tackle, shot, foul, assist, goal. Ballr converts each discreet event into a points value. This forms the basis of a video game people can play on their smartphone against millions of other fans in realtime. Game winners receive epic experiences and prizes.
Introduction to Ballr’s fantasy sport experience
Sam Jones, Ballr Founder and CEO commented, “We have chosen Ably to help us process extremely high volumes of data in realtime. The English Premier League has 3 billion viewers globally. Our app tracks thousands of micro-moments within a single match. That’s a lot of data, and a lot of people playing simultaneously.
“Our company mission is to connect the world through live sport, delivering a new level of fan engagement through technology. This is only possible with partnerships like this”.
Matthew O’Riordan, CEO of Ably, says of the partnership, “We’re really excited to be working with Ballr. It is a perfect use case to showcase our technology where the realtime experience is at the heart of the proposition and is truly global.”
