Experity’s live BI dashboard transforms US urgent healthcare provision

Experity’s BI dashboard delivers the live data urgent care providers need to reduce wait times by deploying doctors to the right clinics according to overall demand and patient needs.

Urgent care is time-sensitive so the dashboard must provide a reliable, realtime view of the availability of doctors and emerging patient demand, with data fanning out across multiple locations. Confidence in the dashboard’s reliability and accuracy is crucial because it is the basis for critical decisions that affect patient care and create potential liability risks – customers have zero tolerance for errors and outages.

However, with no native means to deliver live data to customer dashboards direct from Kafka streams, Experity had relied on batch processing - but it simply wasn’t fast enough, despite significant efforts from its developer team. It needed a HIPAA-compliant realtime solution for the last mile that matched Kafka’s guarantees, and which would help to reduce OPEX by essentially “looking after itself”.

The ideal solution was close at hand, with Ably already in use and trusted within the organization. Offering seamless integration with Kafka and offering the same guarantees around realtime performance, integrity and availability, as well as HIPAA compliance, it promised to be a game changer for Experity.

Implementation couldn’t have been easier. A proof of concept was completed in one day, and the refreshed dashboard, now offering true realtime, was live just three weeks later.
